WHS TALK: Bringing Meadowscapes to Small Spaces

cottage with blue flowers - WestmountMag.caOn Tuesday, February 11 from 7 pm to 9 pm, at the Westmount Public Library, 4574 Sherbrooke W, the Westmount Horticultural Society presents the film Bringing Meadowscapes to Small Spaces.

Author, photographer and award-winning filmmaker Catherine Zimmerman combines her expertise with environmental issues, horticulture and organic practices to offer meadowscaping as an alternative to reduce the use of lawns. The film brings into focus the diversity and inspiration of life inhabiting meadows and prairies. Meadow experts Michael Nadeau, Larry Weaner and Neil Diboll walk the viewer through site preparation, design, planting and maintenance. Entomologist, Doug Tallamy explains the intricate connection between native plants, native insects and the soil food web.

Doors open 6:30 pm for tea, coffee and cookies.
Entrance: members free, guests $7.
