The Finer Cookie:
Lemon Macarons
The perfect first date, a series on lovers and cookies.

It’s your first date, and you’re preparing an elaborate dinner, but it all seems like an exercise in futility because you’re hoping dinner will not happen. What you really want to eat has nothing to do with the meal. Still, you carry through with your plan. The table is set; the candles are out, and the Lemon Macarons are off to the side. The doorbell rings; you exchange glances, then briefly consider dinner… when you have both risen from the depths of your licentious, shameless abandonment, you feel hungry. In bathrobes and bare feet, you softly descend the stairway into the kitchen where the refrigerator light punctures the quiet darkness.
Neither of you has any interest in what was for dinner. Instead, you grab the plate of Lemon Macarons and follow each other back upstairs. Your first bite cracks the crispy shell, as you penetrate the succulent lemon buttercream filling. The second bite uncovers the sinfully tart lemon curd center. Together you experience the truest nature of Lemon Macaron with its cooling sensuality. It’s a perfect first date.
