Shakespeare-Before-the-Show returns!
Once again, Repercussion is partnering with Geordie Theatre School for pre-show youth workshops
ADVERTORIAL
School is finally out and it’s time to hit the outdoors and enjoy the many pleasures summer has to offer. At least, that’s the idea, right?
If you’re having a hard time pulling your child or teenager away from the screen and trying to get them to try something new, this year’s Shakespeare-in-the-Park might be just what you’ve been looking for. On top of being outdoors and in a green space, Geordie Theatre School and Repercussion Theatre are teaming up to engage youth in theatre fun in the sun by leading an Introduction to Shakespeare Workshop before select performances.
“Repercussion is thrilled to be partnering with Geordie Theatre School again this year for our pre-show youth workshops”, says artistic director Amanda Kellock. “Providing opportunities for young people to engage with live theatre is something that both we (Repercussion) and Geordie are passionate about!”
If you’re having a hard time pulling your child or teenager away from the screen and trying to get them to try something new, this year’s Shakespeare-in-the-Park might be just what you’ve been looking for.
In these workshops youth learn what all the thy, wilt thou, wherefore and forsooths are all about and experience the fun of speaking Shakespearean text! The 2-hour workshops culminate in meeting the cast, asking questions of the director, and participating in a professional pre-show warm-up! Talk about getting behind the scenes.
“Geordie Theatre School is excited to break down the walls around Shakespeare and instill a love of the Bard in Montreal youth from all backgrounds!” Geordie Theatre School director Jessica Abdallah says that “the workshops are affordable, accessible and will be taught by two of Geordie Productions and Repercussion Theatre’s favourite actors.”
Following the workshop participants and their families are encouraged to stay to watch the star-studded production of Romeo & Juliet !
The cost is $35 per participant, happens rain or shine and space is limited to 10 kids per class for the following dates:
