May, Mount Royal month:
Explore the mountain!

Springtime festivities begin with the Mount Royal Clean-Up!

Contributed by Les amis de la montagne

Les amis de la montagne is pleased to announce its May: Mount Royal Month programming featuring a variety of discovery walks, exhibitions and other activities under the theme Explore the Mountain. Celebrations kick off with the 27th edition of the Mount Royal Clean-Up on Sunday, May 6.

Nearly 600 citizens are expected to attend Montréal’s largest clean-up operation on May 6 to help collect garbage and recyclables from Mount Royal Park’s wooded areas and to monitor the growth and success of previously planted trees. This year, participants will pay close attention to the ash trees on Mount Royal and observe the health status of larger specimens.

After contributing to the maintenance and beautification of the mountain, participants will enjoy a healthy lunch as well as the chance to learn more about biodiversity and the fight against the emerald ash borer by visiting kiosks in the Mount Royal Chalet.

“I am thrilled to take part in the Mount Royal Clean-Up, which is a very important community action for our mountain. I have often said that I want Montrealers to reclaim their mountain and the annual Clean-Up is the perfect opportunity to take care of the natural jewel that is Mount Royal.”
Valérie Plante, Mayor of Montréal

This forum aims to deepen the reflection on the subject as a complement to the public consultation held by the Office de consultation publique de Montréal.
