ExpoCity Photo Contest

ExpoCity logo - WestmountMag.caThe City of Westmount is looking for beautiful photos that showcase the best of the community’s beauty, vitality and diversity. The contest winner will have his or her images displayed in the reception area of City Hall for an entire year.

The theme of the contest is The Spirit of Westmount in images.

Residents are invited to submit their three best photos to westmount.org/expocity no later than September 1, 2019.

Carmina Choir Summer Sing-alongs

Unitarian Church of Montreal - WestmountMag.caJoin in for fun and relaxed summer sing-alongs, each Tuesday evening all summer long from 7:30 pm to 9 pm in the Phoenix Hall of the Unitarian Church of Montreal, 5035 de Maisonneuve W (Metro Vendome). You are invited to bring copies of a favorite song to sing and share with the group, or just come along and see what musical surprises await in this fun and relaxed chorale atmosphere.

$15 per family. Westmount residents may register their families in person at Victoria Hall (4626 Sherbrooke W). Recent proof of address required. Space is limited! Bring your own mug or reusable water bottle.

Reading Group for Joyce’s Finnegans Wake: The Boaters and Sifters of ALP. Every third Wednesday of the month, join the circle skimming the surface or sifting through the layers of Finnegans Wake to see what is conceived. Bring an open mind and a copy of the book. In the Westmount Room.

Sensory Storytime. With Isabelle Toussaint. Circle storytime and crafts for kids on the autism spectrum. In the Westmount Room (5 to 11 years)

Wednesdays until August 21 from 10:30 am to 11 am
Family Storytime and Songs. No registration is necessary. Participants will be welcomed on a first-come, first-served basis. In the Storytime Room.  (6 months to 36 months)

Thursday, August 15 from 4 pm to 5 pm
Discover the World of Bees with Alvéole
. Learn all about the fascinating world of bees in this fun workshop! Did you know that since 2014, there are two beehives on the library rooftop? If you go up to the third floor, you will see them hard at work making honey. Last year, they made over 300 bottles! In the Westmount Room.

Friday, August 16 from 10 am to 9 pm
Get Back to Nature: tech-free days at the Library. We will be replacing our computers with some “back to nature” activities! Enjoy the tech-free zone. Bring your family or a friend and imagine a wild world before computers!

Wednesday, August 21 from 4 pm to 4:45 pm
The Natural World: Art and Stories – Rain and Rainbows. In the Storytime Room (3 to 6 years)

Friday, August 23 at dusk
Movie Under the Stars – How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019) Bring your lawn chair and blankets, and enjoy an outdoor screening of a film. In Westmount Park.
