Thomas Rolain: An Independent Voice, Rooted in the District 2 Community

My family and I are proud to call District 2 home. For over a year, you’ve seen me working alongside my neighbours, attending more than a dozen council meetings, knocking on doors, and engaging with municipal officials—always with the interests of our district in mind. My commitment is simple: to put the city back in the service of its residents.

With a PhD in Biology (UCLouvain), a Master’s degree (Oxford & GxABT), and a postdoctoral fellowship (McGill), I now lead clinical and medical projects in the pharmaceutical industry. Through this journey, I’ve seen how evidence-based, collaborative leadership creates real and lasting impact.

In 2023, I founded a martial arts club at the Greene Center, now a thriving community hub that strengthens bonds and mentors our youth.

I’m running as an independent candidate to be a representative who will:

  • Earn the trust of District 2 residents
  • Focus on key priorities
  • Build a future our community can be proud of
  • Create the conditions for a calm, safe city for everyone
  • Stay focused on delivering concrete results

My Priorities for District 2

Restoring residents’ voice: Elected officials should represent the will of the people. I will meet regularly with residents to ensure your priorities guide municipal decisions.

Financial responsibility and transparency: Our city faces significant budget challenges. I’m committed to responsible management, cutting unnecessary spending, and reducing our reliance on external consultants.

Safe and reliable infrastructure: I will support efforts to improve sidewalks, ease traffic flow, and ensure proper maintenance in collaboration with the relevant authorities. Too many residents have been injured due to deteriorating infrastructure, and potholes continue to damage vehicles. Our infrastructure must be safe and dependable.

Environment and green spaces: I support initiatives that preserve green spaces, reduce heat islands, and improve stormwater management. I will promote the protection of our urban canopy, the use of permeable surfaces, and more frequent waste collection in public areas. I also support completing the landscape architecture plan for Murray Park (King George Park), in keeping with the community’s vision. Our park—the heart of our district—should retain its natural and peaceful character.

Road and public safety: Speeding remains a recurring issue in District 2. I will advocate for traffic-calming measures that protect pedestrians and families, and support efforts to reduce theft and break-ins. My goal is to help make Westmount a safe, peaceful community where everyone feels secure in their neighbourhood.

My platform and my commitment to our community are built on a principle I hold close: “Focused on Residents. Committed to Results.” If, like me, you believe we can improve Westmount together, then please take the time to vote on November 2nd between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. at The Study School, located at 1 Braeside Place.
