On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Montreal will host the British vocal ensemble The Tallis Scholars for an exceptional concert at St. Andrew and St. Paul Church. Under the direction of their founder, Peter Phillips, the legendary singers will present a work titled Mother and Child – English Music for the Virgin Mary. Under the passionate direction of Peter Phillips, who has devoted his career to the study and performance of Renaissance polyphony, the group gives around 80 concerts each year in both sacred and secular venues. Their 2013 world tour, marking their 40th anniversary, included 99 concerts in 80 venues across 16 countries, a testament to their international prominence. In 2023, after performing more than 2,500 concerts worldwide, they celebrated their 50th anniversary.

Their discography, released under their own label, Gimell Records, includes over 60 recordings, many of which have won international awards. Among their notable distinctions are the 1987 Gramophone Record of the Year for their recording of Josquin des Prés’ masses, several Diapasons d’Or, and multiple Grammy nominations. In 2013, they were inducted into the Gramophone Hall of Fame.
