Overlapping the Montreal Jazz Festival, which ended on July 8, is a 4-ART Expo of paintings presented at the GESU Hall, which hosted several indoor jazz performances. 4-ART is a collective which had made space available on Sherbrooke and St-Laurent during the COVID crisis to painters and other cultural individuals. Nine of those painters were invited to show four of their current paintings in the main exhibition space and even more pieces at individual vernissages inside rooms.
Among those nine painters is Verona Sorensen, previously featured in WestmountMag articles. Her vernissage is on Thursday, July 13, from 3 -5 pm. Ms. Sorensen describes the 4 ART EXPO paintings as “interstellar landscapes where concrete forms mingle with elusive space’” as creative humans slowly adapt to machine-created art products.
Wine and finger food are available from the new restaurant Le Greenfield. In keeping with its Jazz Juxtaposition, 4-ART jazz pianist Matt Herskowitz, named honorary President of this Expo, played an exhibition on July 6. He is particularly known for his Gershwin interpretations.
The exhibition, which began on June 28, continues until July 16
at the GESU, 1200 rue de Bleury
