I Musici’s Eternal Light
I Grandi Concerti series
Works by Vivaldi, Brahms, Lauridsen and a North American premiere by Connesson
2019-2020 promises to be an eventful season. To inaugurate the I Grandi Concerti series, I Musici de Montréal and conductor Jean-Marie Zeitouni are presenting the concert Eternal Light, Tuesday, October 15, 2019, a program informed by spirituality and discovery.
Eternal Light should prove to be essential and unique as much for the works being performed as for the ambiance in which spectators will be immersed. Being played for the first time in North America, a piece by popular French composer Guillaume Connesson, Liturgies de lumière (Liturgies of Light), will set the tone for the evening and pave the way to Vivaldi’s Dixit Dominus RV 807, an extremely rich musical moment, discovered by the general public barely ten years ago. Next, to the delight of the artists, one of Brahms’s earliest accompanied choral works, Geistliches Lied (Sacred Song), Op. 30, will be staged with great finesse and emotion. And finally, Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Æterna will conclude the evening.
With the I Grandi Concerti, I Musici de Montréal catches fire in a series of exceptional concerts under the baton of Jean-Marie Zeitouni.
This choral event, rich in humanity, will be performed by the voices of soloists Myriam Leblanc, Magali Simard-Galdès, Rose Naggar-Tremblay, Jacques-Olivier Chartier and David Menzies, who will be backed by a chorus of 24 singers. Following the concert, the audience is invited to enjoy a mix-and-mingle with the artists in the Bourgie Hall lobby.
