Singer-songwriter launches her new album on Leap Day

Vancouver-based singer, songwriter and actor Devon More was a popular performer at several past Montreal Fringe Festivals. She has a new album Sky is Falling, issued on February 29, 2024, which is a Leap Day of a Leap Year.

The calendar was invented in Ancient Egypt. Based on how long it took the Earth to orbit around the sun (365.24 days), it required an extra few days at the end of the year.

In 46 BCE, Julius Caesar introduced the Julian calendar based on 365.25 days rotation. In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII created the Gregorian calendar.

These two changes to the Egyptian lunar calendar resulted in replacing the additional days at the end of some years by adding one day to the shortest month, February. So there is a Leap Day, February 29, every four years when there is a Leap Year.

Some famous people born on a Leap Day are Indian Prime Minister Morarji Desai, swing bandleader Tommy Dorsey, and singer Dinah Shore.

Devon More has applied to enter the 2024 Montreal Fringe but is on a long waiting list, so approval is unlikely. Her fans here (including me) have our fingers crossed.
