in Montreal this summer

At a time when some Montreal festivals are cancelled or attenuated (film, comedy), it is refreshing that the International Jazz Festival is proceeding as scheduled from June 27 to August 6. Founded in 1980, it is now the largest jazz festival in the world, attracting about two million visitors annually. Many of its free outdoor shows are balanced by formal indoor shows. Check its website for complete details.
In the same time frame, our own intimate jazz joint, Upstairs Jazz Bar and Grill, is featuring its series of performers and for full details, check its website. Each show plays two sets at 7 pm and again at 9:30 pm, with reasonable prices and tasty food and drink.
