A new season for
Música Camerata Montréal
A colourful and intensely passionate grand concert will mark the beginning of the 50th season
To celebrate their 50th anniversary, the chamber music ensemble Musica Camerata Montréal will offer four memorable evenings between September 2019 and May 2020. The concerts will take place at 6 PM at La Chapelle Historique du Bon Pasteur, located at 100 Sherbrooke East in Montreal.
To open the season, Musica Camerata, Montréal’s well-renowned group hailed as one of Canada’s foremost chamber music ensembles in the country, will present a program featuring the clarinet as the principal figure, on September 7th. For the occasion, the guest will be the Montreal born young clarinetist Eric Abramovitz, principal clarinet of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. His partners for the occasion will be Berta Rosenohl (piano), Luis Grinhauz and Van Armenian (violins), Sofia Gentile (viola) and Sylvain Murray (cello).
The program will consist of melodic, romantic, exuberant and unforgettable works. To start the concert the Pieces for clarinet, viola and piano op.83 by the German composer Max Bruch will open the evening followed by the Sonata for clarinet and piano by the Argentinian composer Carlos Guastavino.
As a world première and honouring the Argentinian Community and the General Consulate of Argentina, the musicians will perform a work commissioned for the occasion and composed by the Argentinian pianist and composer Juan Carlos Cirigliano: Postales de Buenos Aires based on well- known tangos such as Inspiracion, La Bordona, Malena and Danzarin for violin and piano.
This magical evening will end with the Quintet Souvenir du voyage for clarinet and string quartet by the American composer Bernard Herrmann, known for his music in Alfred Hitchcock films.
