Scenes from the
Victoria Village Street Festival
Photographer James St Laurent explores this popular and colourful annual event
This spring street festival helps Westmount residents and their Montreal neighbours get out of their long hibernation, and their home, to rediscover the Victoria Village neighbourhood and participate in this exceptional annual outdoor fair that offers multiple attractions, with sidewalks, terraces, shops and restaurants teeming with passersby for the event.
At the Place Prince Albert, several groups of musicians entertain strollers savouring a beautiful spring day.
There are countless items on offer, ranging from craft to kitsch, several mobile kitchens offering on-site food and tasting counters offering Asian or vegan culinary specialties (and delicious treats), as well as other home-made products. Elsewhere, young children are transformed into clowns or cats by makeup artists. At the Place Prince Albert, several groups of musicians entertain strollers savouring a beautiful spring day.
A street festival that offers something for everyone from Thursday, June 6 to Saturday, June 8, 2019.

James St Laurent communicates through images that convey an emotive context and sometimes engage the viewer by presenting a visual paradox. Different types of subjects and genres require different types of approaches, but the end result is still a compelling image that captures your attention. There are photographs everywhere. The obvious is everywhere, the unique takes a little more time. jamesstlaurent.com
