The Bourgie Hall of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) will present the remarkable French guitarist Raphaël Feuillâtre for the first time in Montreal on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 7:30 pm. This young virtuoso ranks second among the most listened-to classical music artists worldwide on Apple Music Classical in 2023, captivating audiences and critics alike with the depth of his interpretations, his dazzling virtuosity, and the richness of his repertoire. His debut album, Visages baroques, released in March 2023 by Deutsche Grammophon, received rave reviews for its flawless technique and insightful transcriptions of Baroque masterpieces.

For this concert at the Bourgie Hall, which is part of a North American tour, he will present a varied recital that reflects both his affinity for works from the German, French, and Italian Baroque (J.S. Bach, Scarlatti, Couperin), Spanish and Latin American composers (Piazzolla, Tárrega, Albéniz), as well as a keen interest in contemporary music (Dyens).
Raphaël Feuillâtre
A laureate of major international competitions (the Guitar Foundation of America in 2018 and the Jose Tomas International Guitar Competition in 2017) and named “Classical Revelation 2021” by ADAMI in France, he soon embarked on a brilliant international career. Chosen as an exclusive artist by Deutsche Grammophon in 2022, he remains one of the few guitarists to have joined this renowned record label.
After a remarkable debut at Carnegie Hall in 2023, he performs in renowned venues and is a guest at prestigious festivals. Hailed by critics as “one of the most exciting concert guitarists of his generation” (Guitar Salon International) and “a fantastically versatile and sensitive performer” (Classical Guitar), Raphaël Feuillâtre aims to introduce audiences to the multiple possibilities and subtleties of his instrument.
