Gallery at Victoria Hall: Call for proposals

Galerie du Victoria Hall - Victoria Hall Gallery – WestmountMag.caWestmount artists are invited to submit their proposals for the next season of exhibitions at the Gallery at Victoria Hall. This call for proposals is open to emerging, semi-professional or established artists residing in Westmount. Selected artists will be offered a place in a solo, duo, or trio exhibition, or in the summer group exhibition, at the discretion of the Gallery Selection Committee, for the season from September 2026 to August 2027.

The annual application period is from February 15 to April 15.

Call for Submissions 2026: Summer Concert Series

summer concert series 2025The City of Westmount invites musicians to submit their applications for inclusion in its 2026 Summer Concert Series. These concerts will bring live music to the public in a relaxed outdoor setting and showcase a variety of music from emerging and professional ensembles. The five Summer Concerts take place in July and August, on a fixed stage in Westmount Park. Each concert consists of a 1-hour set, without an intermission.

All interested groups are invited to fill out and submit the participation form between Tuesday, March 2, and Monday, April 6, 2026.

Westmount Historical Association Lecture (WHA)

On Thursday, March 26, from 7 pm to 9 pm in Victoria Hall, 4626 Sherbrooke W, the WHA presents, as part of their Winter 2026 series, Creative People Who Pursued Careers in Westmount, the lecture Ruth Abramovitsch Sorel: The diaspora of German Modern Dance and its impact ondance in Canada with speaker: Jens Richard Giersdorf, Ph.D., Professor & Chair Dept. of Contemporary Dance, Faculty of Fine Arts, Concordia University.

This lecture examines the diaspora and influence of Ausdruckstanz (German Modern Dance) on Canadian dance through the career of Ruth Sorel. Born in Germany, Sorel was a Jewish choreographer and teacher who worked in Quebec from 1944 to 1955. She established studios in Westmount and Trois-Rivières and founded companies that shaped the region’s dance landscape.

Doors open at 6:30 pm for light refreshments.
Free for 2026 WHA members and $5 for others.
